A Celebration of Legacy, Heritage, and Community!

On Saturday, August 15, 2026, the Inaugural P. W. Moore High School Legacy Heritage Committee Recognition Award Luncheon was successfully held at the Elizabeth City/Pasquotank County Senior Center, located at 215 S. Water Street in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Our community gathered to celebrate the enduring legacy of P. W. Moore High School and honor individuals whose leadership, service, and accomplishments continue to inspire future generations.

We proudly recognized:

We were also honored to welcome Major General Hawthorne “Peet” Proctor as our distinguished guest speaker.

Despite an unexpected venue change, the spirit of the occasion remained strong. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Elizabeth City/Pasquotank County Senior Center for welcoming us and helping make this memorable celebration possible.

We also thank every honoree, special guest, attendee, sponsor, volunteer, and committee member who contributed to the luncheon’s tremendous success.

Special appreciation is extended to the Johnnie B. Walton Foundation, the nonprofit and fiscal overseer of the P. W. Moore High School Legacy Heritage Committee, for its continued support.

The success of this luncheon reminded us that legacy is what we inherit, heritage is what we preserve, and our responsibility is to carry both forward.

This was more than a celebration—it was a powerful step toward ensuring that the history, excellence, and community spirit of P. W. Moore continue to educate, unite, and inspire generations to come.
